ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Most teachers were taught where to put their hands. Not how to make the decision.
So if you’ve ever hovered beside a student thinking, “I can see something, but I’m not sure what to do,” this workshop is for that exact moment.
Many yoga teachers were taught a few adjustments, then left to work out the rest in real classes with real students.
Very few were taught how to decide whether an adjustment is actually needed.
You might know something looks a bit off, but not be sure how to use touch effectively, what kind of support the student actually needs, or when a verbal cue might work better.
This workshop focuses both on the practical side of hands-on adjustments and the thinking behind them, so you leave with techniques you can use, and a clearer understanding of when, why and how to apply them.
“Sandra helped us think beyond the practical side of adjustments and reflect on intention, power dynamics and much more.”
“I learned so much about alignment and hands-on support. I feel far more prepared as a teacher.
”
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
Throughout the workshop, I’ll guide you through practical hands-on adjustments, observation exercises and real teaching scenarios with other teachers in a supportive learning environment.
We’ll work through common pose patterns, real teaching scenarios and different ways of supporting students, so you can build confidence through practice rather than simply memorising techniques.
You’ll learn:
to observe more clearly before adjusting
to use touch with more confidence and purpose
to adapt adjustments for different students and situations
to position yourself more effectively when adjusting
to move beyond memorised assists and make clearer decisions in real time
Why I teach adjustments differently
Many adjustment trainings focus heavily on where to put your hands.
But a good adjustment depends on far more than the pose itself.
It depends on:
what the student is struggling with
what you are trying to communicate
how the body is responding
whether the adjustment is creating stability, support, awareness or space
how confidently and clearly you apply it
In this workshop, we explore both the practical side of hands-on adjustments and the thinking behind them, so you leave not only with techniques to practise, but a clearer understanding of when, why and how to use them effectively.
You’ll practise with other teachers, look at real bodies, explore different options and learn how to choose the assist that actually makes sense in the moment.
